The Phone Link app lets you instantly access your Android or iPhone apps from your PC. Then, using a Wi-Fi connection or Bluetooth connection, browse, play, order, chat, and more — all while using your PC’s larger screen and keyboard.

Using the Phone Link app, you can also send and receive text messages in Windows. It is required to have Bluetooth turned on, paired, and connected for both your PC and linked phone. Whatever you do on your phone, like sending emojis, GIFs, and pictures via text messages, can also be done via the Phone Link app.

Sending and receiving text messages in Windows 11

As described above, using the Phone Link app, one can send and receive text messages in Windows. To make that happen, you must pair your phone to Windows using Bluetooth or connect via the same Wi-Fi network.

Here’s how to do that.

First, open the Phone Link app.

You can do that by clicking on the Start menu -> All apps -> and selecting Phone Link.

Alternatively, click the Phone Link background app icon on the Taskbar (Taskbar overflow) to open.

When the app opens, click the Messages button on the menu.

On the Messages pane, on the New message button. In the Search your contacts box, search for a contact name or number you want to send messages.

In the message field, you can type in a new message and add other emojis, GIFs, photos, and more.

When you are done, click the Send button to send a message.

Receiving text messages:

When your phone is connected to Windows 11 via the Phone Link app, you should get notifications when messages come in from the notification center.

When you select the notification, it will open the Microsoft Phone Link app, where you can read and reply to a message.
