Google Music Player allows you to listen to your favorite songs, upload and store your music collection online and across your devices. You can also create playlists, listen to radio, and more. Google Music Player manage is available on Windows, Mac OS and Linux systems.
This brief tutorial is going to show students and new users how to quickly and easily install Google Music Player manager on Ubuntu via Snap.
Google has created an opensource version for Linux users. simple go to its download page and install it. If you’re new Ubuntu, the Snap version should be a good one to install. It’s not an official Google app, but works greate with Google Music service and maybe better and more stable than the office Linux version from Google.
When you’re ready to install the music player, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Install Snap
Snap is a unniversal package manager that enables users to quickly install and maintain packages on Ubuntu systems. Ubuntu 16.04 and previous version may not have Snap installed by default. so to install, run the commands below
sudo apt install snapd
Step 2: Install Google Music Desktop Player
Now that Snap is installed, run the commands below to install Google Music Player
sudo snap install google-play-music-desktop-player
The commands above should download all libraries and packages that are available for the package. and install them. Wait it bit and in a few munites the package should be installed.
Once installed, go to your Activities Overview and searchf for Google Music Player and lauch.
When the app opens, sign in and begin listening to your music.
The first time you open the Google Play Music app on a mobile device or computer, you can choose which account you want to use. After signing in to an account, music you’ve stored on your device, along with any music you’ve uploaded or purchased on Google Play using your account are added to your library.
