How to Turn On or Off Get the Latest Updates as soon as they’re available in Windows 11

This article explains how to enable or disable the new Windows functionality that lets you choose to get the latest non-security and feature updates as soon as they become available for your device.

Windows Update helps you get the latest fixes and security improvements, keeping your device running smoothly and staying protected. But, in most cases, you don’t do anything to get updates for your computer.

Starting with Windows 11 build 22621.1635, Microsoft added a new toggle control, “Get the latest updates as soon as they are available” on the Settings > Windows Update page.

When you turn it on, we will prioritize your device to get the latest non-security updates and enhancements when they are available for your device.

This feature is disabled by default on managed devices.

Enable or disable “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available”

As described above, Microsoft added a new toggle control, “Get the latest updates as soon as they are available” on the Settings > Windows Update page with the last Windows 11 build.

Here’s how to turn it on or off.

First, open the Windows Settings app.

You can do that by clicking on the Start menu and selecting Settings. Or press the keyboard shortcut (Windows key + I) to launch the Settings app.

When the Setting app opens, click the Windows Update button on the left.

Another way users can turn on or off the control options to get the latest updates as soon as they’re available in Windows is to use the Windows Registry Editor.

First, open the Windows Registry, and navigate to the folder key path below.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX\Settings

If you don’t see the Settings folder key, right-click on the UX key, then create the subkey (Settings) folders.
