How to Set Up Device Usage Settings in Windows 11

There are different types of usage settings available to you, and based on your selections, Microsoft might offer personalized tips, ads, and recommendations within Microsoft experiences.

You can also opt out or change your device usage options any time in the Settings app on Windows.

Here are some examples of tips, ads, and recommendations you might receive when you provide information on how you’ll use your device.

How to change device usage settings in Windows 11

As mentioned above, device usage settings in Windows tells Microsoft how you plan to use your device.

Below is how one set up or change their device usage settings in Windows 11.

Windows 11 has a centralized location for majority of its settings. From system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows, all can be done from its Settings app.

To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + i shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings as shown in the image below:

Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar and search for Settings. Then select to open it.

Windows Settings pane should look similar to the image below. In Windows Settings, click Personalization > Device usage tile to expand it.

On the Personalization > Device usage settings pane, toggle the button to On or Off to enable or disable specific usage settings you want to use with Windows.

You can now close the Settings app.
