How to Customize Windows 10 Lock Screen

This brief tutorial shows students and new users how to personalize or customize their Windows 10 lock screen.

Windows 10 comes with a feature called Windows spotlight that shows beautiful photography from around the globe when your PC is locked.

Windows will allow you to customize the lock screen with your favorite photos or slide show of selected images you want to display instead of the randomly select photography from around the world.

You will also be able to choose system notifications to display on the lock screen to show you upcoming calendar events, social network updates, and other apps.

For students and new users looking for a computer to start learning on, the easiest place to start is Windows 10. Windows 10 is the most recent version of operating systems for personal computers developed and released by Microsoft as part of its Windows NT family.

To get started with personalizing your lock screen, follow the steps below:

Change lock screen background

To change your lock screen to your liking and customize where images are displayed from, select the Start  button, then select Settings  > Personalization  > Lock screen

On the lock screen, you can change the background to a favorite photo or slide show of images you want to disply.

You have three options to select from for images to display.

Windows spotlight: shows beautiful photography automatically on your lock screen. It updates daily with images from around the globe, and it also shows tips and tricks for getting the most out of Windows.

Picture: shows images that are included with Windows as well as custom images you select to display.

Slideshow: shows album slideshows of your images to display on your lock screen.

By default, Windows spotlight is chosen to display images on your lock screen. Spotlight images won’t display if your account doesn’t allow it or your PC is rebooted.

For spotlight to show images, it must be turned on and you need to be signed into Windows first.

To test if Windows spotlight is working correctly, press Windows logo key  + to lock your device. The Windows spotlight image should appear on the lock screen.

If you don’t see the Windows spotlight image when you’re signing in, select the Start  button, then select Settings  > Personalization  > Lock screen . Then make sure Show lock screen picture on the sign-in screen is turned on.

That should do it!
