Photos you add to your profile are associated with your and what the account represents. If you want to spice up your account profile in Windows 11, add a cool and unique picture to define who you are and what you care about.
Windows allows you to add picture to your profile to distinguish your account and identify you on the login screen from other Windows profiles.
By default if you don’t add image to your account profile, a black image space will be added and left blank. All users will have the same image, except unique account names.
When setting up account image, you can take and use picture that you snap from your laptop camera or download and import pictures from anywhere. Once you add a picture, you should see the new image on the login screen to identify your account.
If you sign into Windows 11 with a Microsoft account, your account picture will be synced across all devices that you signed in with using Microsoft account. People who have you as contact will also see your image associated with your name in Windows as contact.
How to Add your Avatar to Windows Account
To get started with adding picture or image to Windows account, use the steps below.
Windows 11 has a centralized location for majority of its settings. From system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows, all can be done from its System Settings pane.
To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + i shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings as shown in the image below:
Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar and search for Settings. Then select to open it.
Windows Settings pane should look similar to the image below. In Windows Settings, click Accounts, select Your info on the right pane of your screen shown in the image below.
In Your info setting page, you can either take picture using your web came or browse and select a photo you want to associate with your account.
Select the file and your account picture should show up immediately. When you select the image it should immediately replace the default image with the one you selected. The next time you logon to the system you should see your image on the logon screen.
Change Microsoft Account Image
You can also change your Microsoft account profile image. For that, you’ll have to logon to your Microsoft online account using the link below:
On the account page go to Your info page as highlighted in the image below and click Add a photo button.
Your Microsoft account will now be synced across all your devices using the same profile image.
